Ireland’s Para athletes delivered a series of impressive performances at the Athletics Ireland Indoor Games, held on Saturday 17 February at the National Indoor Arena, Dublin, as the indoor season continues to gather momentum.
Orla Comerford produced solid runs on the indoor track, continuing a strong block of racing in recent days. Earlier in the week, Comerford competed at the Meeting Indoor Locarnese in Switzerland, where she recorded personal bests over both 50m and 60m. In a high-quality 50m race, she finished just behind training partner Sarah Leahy, who set a new Irish record, with both athletes racing under the guidance of coach Daniel Kilgallon. Comerford’s form across both competitions underlines a positive start to her indoor season.
In middle-distance action, Greta Streimikyte competed in a highly competitive 1500m at the National Indoor Arena, clocking 4:40. The performance provides a strong early-season benchmark as she targets further improvements indoors.
There was a standout performance from Fionán Ruane, who recorded an excellent new personal best of 23.83 in the 200m, highlighting continued progression and growing confidence on the indoor circuit.
Damien Moyles also enjoyed a strong outing, recording an indoor personal best over 400m to round out a positive set of results for Ireland’s Para athletes.
