Podium for O’Callaghan at UCI Mountain Bike World Series, Austria

Oisin O’Callaghan put in a fine performance in the UCI Mountain Bike World Series to earn another podium finish at Leogang, Austria.

Leogang proved a fantastic round of the series, with the picturesque scenery making for challenging terrain for the world’s best downhill riders. The addition of treachorous tree stumps to the course and heavy rainfall in the week of event made for difficult conditions, but O’Callaghan wasn’t deterred.

The Irish rider finished fourth place to stand on the overall podium for the Elite Men’s Downhill, just over three seconds behind winner Loic Bruni over a course that featured an elevation drop of over 400m in just 3km.

It went down to the wire in the run-in as O’Callaghan took his place on the podium just 0.007 seconds faster than French rider Benoit Coulanges in fifth place.

The YT Mob rider has been consistently performing at the highest level following his breakthrough season in 2023, which included a momentous gold medal at the UCI Mountain Bike World Series last September.

Ronan Dunne, who took his first-ever UCI World Series win in Poland last month, finished in 12th place in the same event. Meanwhile Jacob Dickson reached the semi-final stage.

Attention now quickly turns to Italy and Val Di Sole XXX
