The Dornan Rás Mumhan 2026 promises to once again showcase the very best of Irish domestic cycling, bringing together emerging talent as well as seasoned riders for one of the country’s most respected stage races.
Taking place over the Easter Weekend, from April 3rd to 6th, the event will feature four days of elite racing across Kerry and Cork. Known for its challenging routes, unpredictable weather and passionate local support, the 2026 Dornan Rás Mumhan has once again attracted a strong field of entries, with 29 teams entered, including six international teams.
International teams include teams from the Netherlands, Scotland and England. In addition to international teams there is a strong contingent of teams from the four provinces. There are four from Connacht, six from Leinster, eight from Munster and five teams from Ulster. there is a total of 29 racing teams. See full team details below.
This year’s field will include a wealth of Junior talent and more experienced riders. The race see riders from Cycling Ireland’s High-Performance Pathway, as well as Rás winners Dom Jackson and Daire Feeley.
Route overview
The event consists of 4-day, 5 stage format:
Stage 1A – Team Time Trial;
- Distance -– 9.2km
- Start – Ballybunion, Co, Kerry
- Finish – Asdee, Co.Kerry
- Details – Riders will travel along the North Kerry Coastline in the opening stage of the race.
Stage 1B – Road Race;
- Distance -– 83.6km
- Start – Asdee, Co. Kerry to
- Finish -– Knockanure, Co. Kerry
- Details – Riders will depart from Asdee and travel via Ballylongford, Tarbert and Glin, followed by two loops of the Athea–Knockanure circuit and finishing in Knockanure village.
Stage 2 – Road Race
- Distance – 116.1km
- Start – Killarney, Co. Kerry
- Finish – Portmagee, Co. Kerry
- Details -Taking place from Kilarney to Portmagee featuring Bealach Oisin and the Cuam an Easpaig climb before a fast finish.
Stage 3 -Road Race
- Distance – 119.6km
- Start – Millstreet, Co. Cork
- Finish – Clondrohid, Co. Cork
- Details – Consists of high-speed circuits near Macroom then leading into the brutal Kerryman’s Table climb
Stage 4 – Road Race
- Distance – 104.9km
- Start – Killorglin
- Finish – Town Square, Killorglin, Co. Kerry
- Details – The finale starts in Killorglin and includes the Beaufort loop and McKenna circuit before finishing in the town square.
