Taking place on October 7th, Run Galway Bay is an annual road race that includes a Full Marathon (26.2 miles), Half Marathon (13.1 miles), and a 10K.
The routes will take runners from Nimmo’s Pier in the Claddagh, along Salthill’s promenade, around Galway Golf Course, and back again, on what is quite a flat route with beautiful views across Galway Bay!
What’s included in my entry?
– Race entry
– Finishers T-shirt
– Finishers Medal
– Timing Chip
– Fruit and light refreshments after the event
– Water, first aid stations, and toilets every three miles
Following a review with our Health & Safety Team, the race organisers have decided not to have pacing groups at this year’s event as they attract big numbers of people running in close proximity to each other and the course is too narrow at parts.
10K: There will be a water station at mile 3 and at the finish
Half Marathon: There will be a water station at mile 1, 4, 7, 10 and at the finish
Full Marathon: There will be a water station at mile 1, 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23 and at the finish.
We are actively trying to eliminate waste this year and are introducing refill stations along the course. We are encouraging everyone to carry a 500ml bottle of water on the course and refilling as needed at the station. We will also have water in paper cups and are committed to fully recycling all cups and bottles after the event.
