Russell White competed at the 2024 World Triathlon Cup Karlovy Vary, navigating one of the toughest courses on the circuit to secure 23rd place overall and produce the fastest bike split in the Elite Men’s race, with a total time of 1:57:35.
The race kicked off with a 1500m lake swim, where White delivered a strong performance, clocking a time of 18:19. His swim set the tone for what would be a demanding race, with White positioning himself well amongst the top half of the pack heading into the transition. The test continued during the 40km bike leg. White powered through the 40km course, covering it in a time of 1:03:38 putting in a consistent performance throughout.
The 10km run took athletes through Karlovy Vary’s scenic landscape. White completed the run with a time of 34:49, and finished the run strong crossing the line with an overall time of 1:57:35.
White reflected on the race, sharing “23rd after a really promising bike but a better result hindered by a rookie nutrition strategy; still one of my favourite courses ever.”
Russell White will be joined by Jonathan Oakey in the Elite Men’s race at the 2024 Europe Triathlon Championships in Vichy this weekend.
