Sere Lisburn Duathlon Report

On Sunday, the 24th of March, nearly 100 athletes took to Down Royal Racecourse, to tackle the SERE Lisburn Duathlon. Spirits were high as the sun came out and the athletes warmed up near the start line.

The race kicked off at 10am sharp with a mass start. The athletes made their way to the racecourse where they completed their first 5km lap of the path around the perimeter.

James Graham of Peninsula Triathlon Club and Lisburn Triathlon Club’s, John Jackson came into T1 together, both completing the first run in 11 minutes and 3 seconds. Moving out of T1 the athletes continued onto the bike course, a 16.2km lap on undulating tarmac roads through Lisburn. Graham maintained his lead and completed the course in a time of 24 minutes and 25 seconds.

Finishing out the race with a 4.5km run, the athletes followed a similar course along the racecourse path. Graham was first across the line in the men’s race, Jackson followed soon after and James Cleland of Hi-Elbow Triathlon Club took third place.

In the women’s race, Leonie Dolan of Olympian Triathlon Club was the first to break the finish ribbon, followed soon after by Martina Mcintyre and Ciara Brady from Virginia Triathlon & Cycling Club.
