10 riders competed in the UCI Track Masters World Championships in Roubaix, France, where there were some very strong performances, complete with podium finishes.
A team of Eimear Moran, Susie Mitchell, Sofie Loscher, and Melanie Späth won a spectacular Bronze in the Women’s 35-44 Team Pursuit. In the Women’s Team Sprint, Moran, Mitchell, and Loscher just missed out on a medal, finishing fourth, with a time of 56.799.
In the 500m Time Trial, Susie Mitchell and Eimear Moran both won Bronze in their respective age categories, with Moran taking Silver in the Women’s 40-44 Scratch race. Orla Hendron won Bronze in the Women’s 60+ Points race, with Moran claiming her fourth medal of the week; a Bronze in the Women’s 40-44 Points race.
There were strong performances and PBs from the other Irish riders across several races, including Former National Champion Seán Curtis and National Record Holder Chris Burns, who finished just outside the top 10 in the 35-39 1km Time Trial. The Men’s Team Sprint consisted of Paul Armstrong, Anthony Doyle, and Liam Collins, who had a brilliant race, finishing 7th in a strong field.
