The 2025 National Senior Track and Field Championships provided two days of top-class athletics competition, showcasing the best talent in the country at Morton Stadium.
Three of Ireland’s world top‑five ranked Para athletes were in action across the weekend, delivering a series of impressive performances.
On Saturday, Lana Sutton ran an excellent sub‑27 in a negative wind to finish her 200m heat in 26.93 seconds. In the women’s 1500m, Greta Streimikyte narrowly missed out on a place in the final, finishing just 0.42 seconds behind the last qualifying spot with a strong 4:36.11 in the heats.
Sunday saw Orla Comerford and Lana Sutton take on the women’s 100m. Comerford produced a superb performance to reach the final at the National Championships, clocking 11.99 seconds in the semi‑finals before following up with another impressive sub‑12 run of 11.95 in the final. Sutton posted 13.17 in her semi‑final, gaining invaluable experience at senior national level.
It was an important opportunity for all three athletes to test themselves against elite competition as they build towards next month’s World Championships in New Delhi.
