Team Ireland will be represented by a strong team of seven athletes, including three PTVI pairings, at the 2025 European Para Triathlon Championships in Besançon, France. Racing is on Saturday, 14th June.
Tom Williamson (PTS5) will be carrying momentum off the back of his first World Triathlon Para Series podium in Taranto last weekend. The 2024 European bronze medalist will be looking to reaffirm that he is one to watch over the LA 2028 cycle.
Judith MacCombe and guide Eimear Nicholls (PTVI) can confidently toe the line following their bronze medal performance in their international season opener in Taranto last weekend. Judith and Eimear have been showing a strong performance trajectory over the latter part of the 2024 season and will look to continue this fine form throughout the 2025 season.
Donnacha McCarthy and guide Sean Husband (PTVI) will look to build on their strong performance in their 2025 international season opener last weekend in Taranto.
Chloe MacCombe and guide Aisling Wyer (PTVI) will make this race debut. This new pairing commence their para triathlon journey together this weekend.

A large Irish contingent will be competing in Austria across both the senior and junior races. The senior men’s and women’s races take place on Saturday, 14th June with the juniors racing on Sunday, 15th June.
Hollie Elliott comes into the race off the back of a fantastic individual season opener, fifth place in Olsztyn. Hollie will be looking to carry that momentum into Wels and aiming to equal or better that performance as she goes into this weekend ranked 7th.
Jonny Oakey showed great swim and bike form in Olsztyn and will hope to use this strength to create a small breakaway using the strong river current swim and get other like minded athletes to work together on the bike.
Ralf Bodamer will also hopefully be out near the front of the swim after his seventh place in European U23 Aquathlon Championships, Pamplona. We look forward to seeing him incorporate his bike strength here which he showed at Joey Hannon on the local triathlon scene.
Senan McDonnell comes into the weekend off the back of his win at Centra Fastnet Triathlon just last weekend. Senan will be aiming to transfer that form into draft legal racing this weekend.
This weekend is also a season opener for Ethan Doherty, who will look to gain more valuable draft legal experience and aim to set a benchmark for the rest of the year.
