Eight Irish athletes were in action in Corfu to represent their county on the international stage alongside some of the best marathon junior swimmers in Europe, all of whom are vying for medal success in their age category at the 2023 European Junior Open Water Championships from Friday, 29 September – Sunday 1 October.

5KM Swim

Jessica Purcell finished in 20^th with a time of 1:04:57.7.

Ian Middleton took 27^th in the Men’s junior 5km 1:03:59.6.

7.5KM Swim

Denis O’Brien was the strongest of the Irish finishing in 20^th with a time of 1:31:44.4.

Sean Donnellan was 34^th in 1:33:31.7, while Daragh Horgan finished in 36^th in 1:34:03.6.

10KM Swim

Ronan Fahey finished 23^rd in a time of 2:06:04.5, while Ben Moran was 28^th in 2:09:54.1.

In the Women’s junior 10km Ireland’s Ella Carroll was 19^th in a time of  2:25:00.9.
