The final track event of the season took place at Sundrive Velodrome, Dublin on Saturday 21st of September. The schedule for the day was action packed with racing starting at 10am and running throughout the day. The morning session included heats and qualifying rounds with the finals taking place in the afternoon.
Liam O’Connor won the M60 Flying 200 for Bann Wheelers Cycling Club. Orla Hendron finished second for Orwell Wheelers Cycling Club and Damien Byrne was third for Sundrive Track Team.
In the M60 2k Pursuit Eamonn Byrd claimed victory for Dublin Wheelers, Orla Hendron added another silver medal to her winnings and Joe Grennell was third for Spellman-Dublin Port.
Liam O’Connor landed his second gold medal of the day, winning the M60 500m Time Trial. Damien Byrne was second and Orla Hendron was third.
Orla Hendron topped the podium in the M60 5km Scratch, finishing ahead of Damien Byrne in second and Brian Hammond in third for Lucan Cycling Road Club.
There were strong entries throughout the M50 and M40 races. Sundrive Track Team filled the podium in the M50 Flying 200. Paul Armstrong won, followed by John Caffrey and Sean Curtis.
In the M50 2k Pursuit Ian Cassidy won for Les Rouleurs, Sean Curtis was second and Jason Henry was third for Inspired Cycling.
John Caffrey added a gold medal to his silver from the Flying 200 when he won the M50 500m Time Trial. Jason Henry was second and Ian Cassidy third.
Sean Curtis topped the podium in the M50 7.5km Scratch race with Jason Henry as runner-up. Martin O’Loughlin completed the podium for Panduit Carrick Wheelers.
Sundrive Track Team once again filled the podium, this time in the M40 Flying 200. Gold went to Mark Stewart, silver to Robert Murphy and bronze to Colm Sevastopulo.
In the M40 3km Pursuit Lucan Cycling Road Clubs’s Ronan Killeen claimed victory ahead of Richard Grant and Matthew McCullagh who finished in second and third respectively, both riding for Sundrive Track Team.
Sundrive Track Team dominated once again in the M40 750m Time Trial. Matthew McCullagh and Mark Stewart were first and second. Preventing another all Sundrive Track Team podium was Daniel McElroy for Orwell Wheelers.
Winning his second gold medal of the day, Ronan Killeen won the M40 10km Scratch. Richard Grant was second and Matthew McCullagh was third.
