Western Lakes Atlantic Challenge Sportif

April 9th
(100-160km)
€40
Salthill Knocknacarra GAA Club

The Western Lakes and Atlantic Challenge (WLAC) hosted by Galway Bay Cycling Club is a fun and challenging sportif cycling event with two distances to choose from which will take participants on a figure of eight loop through Maam Cross and Leenaun.

A long 160k cycle for the endurance athlete takes the cyclists through Connemara and is the perfect goal for anyone who wants to get a long cycle done early in the year to set themselves up for a summer of racing, triathlon, or recreational cycling.

There is also a 100km route, and the Galway Bay Cycling Club hosts pride themselves on the fact that many novices who take on this cycle are taking on the longest distance they have yet completed, but they are able to do it because they are well looked after by the GBCC team.

  • The sportif will be based from Salthill Knocknacarra GAA Club, Dr. Mannix Rd. H91 T0F6
  • 100km start time – 9.00 am
  • 160km start time – 8.30 am

On route there will be one food stop for the 100k and two for the 160k.

Facilities

  • Food stops on route
  • ‘Broom-wagon’ support van
  • Finish line reception
This is the first round of the Connacht Cycling Leisure Series and a fundraiser for Galway Bay Cycling Club.
