Galway Baybes Back in the Saddle & Going Solo

ByJoanne Murphy |

It’s official, the Galway Baybes are back in the saddle for 2022, this time it’s both Karen & I who will be putting power to the pedals and going solo this year as we take on individual challenges.

I will be taking on my first solo ultra cycling event at the Raceface events Ballinrobe Ultra 12 hour race on March 12th. Inspired & cajoled by Karen to take on a solo race this year, I’ve taken the plunge and embraced the challenge albeit with a lot of apprehension.  Karen will also be on the start line in March, the first of three planned solo events for her in 2022.

After the Ballinrobe Ultra Karen will tackle The Western Challenge 525k solo in June before taking on her biggest challenge to date, the Race Around Ireland Ultra in August as a solo rider.

With training well underway and the miles being clocked up, all roads lead to Ballinrobe for the Galway Baybes for the next few weeks with plenty of adventures on two wheels planned in the meantime.
